Active School
Our application for our 2nd Active School flag has been in progress for the past few months. In order to complete the process in the current school year there are activities that we need to take part in each term. The objective of the programme is to encourage physical activity in school and include the wider school community in the process. A student Active School Committee has been set up to help with the coordination and running of the different initiatives.
The Skip Around the World Challenge and the Croke Park Classroom Movement Breaks earlier in the year were part of the criteria for submission.
We have lots of fun activities planned for the week of 27th April which include:
* Learning on the move; using our school walkway.
* School assembly and Dance routines led by the senior class pupils.
* Crazy golf; some fantastic work done by fifth and sixth class in design and construction of crazy golf holes.
* No written homework for the week just Active homework - a welcome break from the normal pen and paper work.
* Teacher / Student Activities
* P.E. each day
* Lots of sports - football, soccer, hurling, basketball, running.......
* DEAR; drop everything and run activities randomly spread through the week.
It looks like it's going to be an active and busy week. We hope the children enjoy it!
